America's 75,000 Page Horror Story

Via SchiffGold.com,

While most of the American government can be characterized by regulatory overgrowth, few areas loom larger in the public imagination than the Tax Code. This reputation is well earned, as the Tax Code seems to become more complicated each time people try to reform it.

Hundreds of years of revisions have left American taxpayers in an unenviable situation.

While tax rates are at historic highs, the complexity of the Tax Code itself presents enough problems to be worthy of a complete renewal.

  • The first problem with the Tax Code complexity is that enforcement has become such a nightmare that even the well-funded IRS cannot begin to properly enforce it.

  • The next problem is that the tax code’s complexity unfairly benefits those with time, resources, and ironically, money, to spend avoiding taxation, allowing the richest and most unethical to benefit from the web of confusion.

  • The last problem with the tax code is that it creates a fundamental rift between the American people and the government through providing a realistic view into the complexity and self-contradictory nature of the state.

The IRS is much maligned by anyone who wants to keep their well learned money, yet one of their greatest problems they face is that they can barely keep their head above water organizationally. The tax code is so complicated that it is nearly impossible to carry out action plans, or even create strategic priorities. Any focus that the IRS chooses for a tax cycle can be contradicted by another part of the tax code. Administrations constantly adding in different elements and revisions of the tax codes mean that the source document for enforcement provides much less clear guidance than can be found at other agencies. Only a small part of the tax code can be enforced, and the subjective choice about what part that is allows a lot of room for corruption and uncertainty. Additionally, the IRS bears the burden of punishing people who unknowingly violated the tax code while being unable to hunt down those who use its complexity to their advantage. A simplified Tax Code would benefit the IRS both strategically and administratively.

The complexity of the tax code benefits the most unscrupulous and wealthy citizens uniquely. Not to mention that some parts of the tax code itself were written to provide benefits to friends of politicians throughout history, it is so vast that people with skilled lawyers and accountants can take a gamble on numerous loopholes and slight misclassification that will allow them to protect their money. Hypothetically, these people should be the greatest target of additional tax laws. When politicians pass tax laws, both they and the citizens are often subconsciously thinking of the unscrupulous wealthy as being on the receiving end of the incoming higher taxation. However, too many years of code growth have cemented the middle class and the most scrupulous  law-abiding rich citizens as those hardest hit by any increase in taxes. The IRS’ inability to enforce the Code along with the massive opportunity for abuse make complicated tax laws a boon for their intended targets.

At the root of the American identity is a repulsion to taxation. Of course some taxation is necessary for any government to exist, but the current state of taxation is a recurring point of contention between American citizens and their government. Countless years and billions of dollars spent trying to fulfill and understand the requirements of the tax code serve as humiliating reminders of our government’s incompetence. Even the officials who voted to make the tax code law can barely understand the parts they most support. The government needs no help losing trust, but forcing a massive and extremely complicated set of laws to come into contact with nearly every American, every year, does little to repair the bond that has been severed. The worst stereotypes of the Federal Government are shown to be true in the tax codes’ bland display of bureaucratic rot and excess.

Before the level of taxation can be discussed, we must first recognize the blatantly terrible practicalities of the tax code. It is both theoretically and practically compromised. It does no good for those enforcing it or those it is being enforced upon.

While a simplified tax code might not provide a special case for every possibility in human life, it might be time to recognize that having a brutally simple tax code would be better.

Some good things would not be as heavily incentivized by tax credits, but the deletion of the miasma of confusion that currently exists would allow Americans of all types to flourish.

Stay Sane!

Authored by James Howard Kunstler,

"Betting against Donald Trump is usually a bad idea."

- Insurrection Barbie on "X"

What apparently riles the credentialed political Left — the “gay / race communists” in the apt new phrase — more than anything, is that most of the country has opted to not be insane. This follows a decade-long attempt to drive the country insane, of course, to believe in things that are patently untrue and absurd, and to utilize falsehood and absurdity to garishly destroy the nation.

So, it fits that Donald Trump, the uber-realist of political game-playing, pushes what remains of the Democratic Party into a rapture of impotent rage. They’ve got nothing left but the empty acting-out of lunatics in an asylum of their own making. The wrathful grass-widows choking on their chardonnay in Martha’s Vineyard, the furious nose-rings steaming under their keffiyehs in the summer heat, the “Transtifas” storming police lines with their ridiculous umbrellas, the doddering Boomer-hippies reenacting the festive protest marches of 1968, minus a single coherent principle, the wigged-out congresspersons storming the ICE detention centers, the Covid vaccine victims duped into multiple organ failure (their hearts and brains especially), the “allies” of every loser group from Bangor to Brentwood in a frenzy of baffled grievance — these poor, lost wretches so far gone that even the likes of David Axelrod, James Carville, and Frank Luntz can’t stand to be associated with them anymore, is all the Democrats have left in their manure-stuffed donkey stable.

The abiding mystery remains: what exactly set in motion this fantastic cascade of political madness, especially among the highly educated demographic.

The seemingly obvious answer is higher education itself, infested since the 1960s with Marxist zealots, sexual malcontents, and resentment-filled diversity hires. And while that has surely played its part, it doesn’t sufficiently explain the ugly dynamic.

Another explanation runs toward a plot by international “oligarchical” corruptniks to corner all the goodies of the world and either turn the rest of us into their slaves, or just kill us off — and to do it in such a way as to rub it in our faces, so as to provide the corruptniks with some mirthful entertainment as they go about their dastardly business.

For instance, the recent weekend wedding of Huma Abedin and Alex Soros on the very day that the moiling minions whom they sponsor held their nationwide “No Kings” rallies inn the streets.

Huma, the bride, you recall, was Hillary Clinton’s sidekick back in Hillary’s glory days, especially the time of her glorious and inevitable rise (her regal “turn”) to occupy the White House, thwarted inconceivably by the preposterous showman, Mr. Trump. Hillary, you also might recall, left the White House broke-ass-broke in 2001 only to agglomerate a stupendous multi-hundred-million-dollar fortune working as a US Senator and then Secretary of State (salaries $170,000 and $260,600 respectively). That is, Hillary acquired her great fortune in about the same way that the royalty-of-old acquired theirs — by grift and theft.

And Huma, former wife of disgraced congressman and convicted Internet pervert Anthony Weiner, is now wed to decade-younger financial royalist Alex Soros, son of George, who made the bulk of his fortune (estimated $7.2-billion) shorting the British pound sterling in 1992 and went on to found a vast array of NGOs and so-called philanthropies (the Open Society Foundations) that specialize in influencing elections worldwide, conducting regime-change campaigns, and lately financing seditious movements within the United States. Heir-apparent Alex is reported to have taken over the day-to-day operations of that network — but, we must have no kings, you understand.

Mr. Trump, meanwhile, has actually tried, against all odds and endless threats, to represent the interests of common US citizens, that is, most of us, the non-royal, and to navigate the collective consciousness of this human mass away from the long-creeping, imposed insanity. He was blind-sided and sandbagged by enemies in his naïve first term. But Trump has returned — after an astonishing exhibition of spiteful incompetence by his adversaries — much-chastened by previous failure and injury with a far-better crew, much better-prepared with a program for redeeming a spavined economy, reinstating common sense in the daily life of the nation (i.e., resistance to absurd propositions), and reform of a dangerous rogue bureaucracy.

The remnant Left is reeling now, most recently from last week’s SCOTUS decision foreclosing the universal injunction nonsense sponsored by Norm Eisen and Mary McCord’s lawfare corps. That campaign, which raged for five months, might prove to be their last gasp. You know, though, that they are plotting another round of election fraud for the 2026 midterms. But it looks like their previous frauds are on the verge of being uncovered — finally, after years of evasion and no help from a treasonous news media — and there’s a fair chance that they can’t pull off more fraud next time. Passage of a proof-of-citizenship law for national elections could seal that deal.

But first, the massive hurdle of the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Whatever its virtues and defects, it must be gotten over for this larger effort of a journey back to civilizational sanity to continue. Hazards lurk at every turn. The awesome national debt hangs ominously over the whole enterprise and might sink it yet. Certain players in Europe steer deeper into their own insanity and look more and more like true enemies of the USA — far more than Russia does now — and then there is China: powerful, still rising, plotting cunningly.

Plenty of travail awaits, but we’ll be better able to get through it with our minds right and our aim true. Aim to stay sane.

Leftists Insist Trump's Children Be Deported After President's Win On Birthright Citizenship

The conflict over illegal immigration in the US is rooted in a very simple question:  Should a society have standards for who gets access to its culture and economy?  Does a nation have the right to deny some people while accepting others?

The majority of countries in the world have such rules and restrictions on immigration, yet the US has for some reason become a petri dish for unfettered multiculturalism.  The rest of the planet seems to feel it has the right to demand that Americans open their borders to anyone and everyone.  Specifically, the political left is obsessed with the notion that the US is not allowed to deny entry, and if it does then it is exercising a "fascist" imperative that must be sabotaged.

Inevitably, progressives cite the immigration surge from 1870 to 1900 along with the poem on the Statue of Liberty titled "The New Colossus", which calls to "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..."  What many people don't know is that the plaque with the poem wasn't added to the Statue of Liberty until 1903 and it was written by a feminist and socialist by the name of Emma Lazarus.

The open borders agenda is not new, it was started by socialists a long time ago and the process is an ongoing one.

One aspect of immigration law that leftists have exploited for quite some time is the existence of birthright citizenship.  The laws surrounding citizenship outlined in the 14th Amendment were intended to secure rights for newly freed slaves after the Civil War.  They were not meant to be used by foreign invaders as a loophole so they could sneak across the border, drop a baby or two on US soil and avoid deportation.

The Supreme Court's stance on this issue has shifted back and forth over the decades but their latest decision denies the assumed powers of federal judges to block White House policy unilaterally.  In other words, individual activist judges do not have more power that a lawfully elected president.  This should be obvious, but the political left does not care about election outcomes and the will of the people.  They think they know better.

The SCOTUS decision allows the Trump Administration to narrow the interpretation of birthright citizenship to children with at least one parent that already has legal standing in the US.  A baby born in America with two illegal alien parents is not automatically a US citizen according to White House policy.

The court's ruling does not end the conflict completely, however.  There is civil litigation to address and lower courts will continue to delay in the hopes of derailing deportations.  Immigration activists are already panicking, though; flooding social media with an old and debunked narrative that Trump's children including Barron Trump are now non-citizens under Trump's rules.

The claim is, of course, nonsense, and stems from a lack of understanding when it comes to basic immigration law.  Or, it is a deliberate refusal to acknowledge the difference between legal and illegal migrants.

This is a disconnect from reality that has persisted since Trump began his secure borders campaign, with leftists claiming that Melania Trump and her children are subject to deportation and that Trump is a "hypocrite" for wanting some migrants removed while being married to an immigrant.

As in all things, arguing with stupid people is dangerous because one often has to sink down to their level and roll around in the gutter.  That said, it's worth reminding people once again that Trump's position does not oppose all immigration, just illegal immigration.  The difference is clear; if a foreigner goes through proper channels then they are a legal citizen.  This includes Melania Trump who received her citizenship status in 2006.  Trump's children are automatically citizens, not necessarily because they were born in the US but because Trump is a citizen.

This is not hard to understand.

Progressive fact checking organizations have even debunked this argument, noting that all of Trump's children and Melania are distinctly legal, as opposed to migrants that invade the border and have children in order to anchor themselves legally.  The political left's refusal to accept the difference is a tiresome ploy that needs to end.

GOP's Thom Tillis Rage-Quits Senate, Will Not Seek Re-Election Amid 'Political Theatre' And 'Hypocrisy'

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) announced on Sunday that he will not seek re-election, just one day after voting "no" on a procedural vote to advance President Donald Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' - for which Trump attacked Tillis in a series of posts on Truth Social

"In Washington over the last few years, it’s become increasingly evident that leaders who are willing to embrace bipartisanship, compromise, and demonstrate independent thinking are becoming an endangered species," Tillis said in a statement, adding "It underscores the greatest form of hypocrisy in American politics. When people see independent thinking on the other side, they cheer. But when those very same people see independent thinking coming from their side, they scorn, ostracize, and even censure."

"As many of my colleagues have noticed over the last year, and at times even joked about, I haven’t exactly been excited about running for another term. That is true since the choice is between spending another six years navigating the political theatre and partisan gridlock in Washington or spending that time with the love of my life Susan, our two children, three beautiful grandchildren, and the rest of our extended family back home. It’s not a hard choice, and I will not be seeking re-election."

Tillis' decision creates a political opportunity for Democrats, as it now means a wide-open Senate race in a state that has long been a contested battleground

In several posts to Truth Social, Trump slammed Tilis for being one of two GOP senators who voted against the bill - accusing him of seeking publicity with his "no" vote, and threatening to launch a campaign against him.

"Tillis is a talker and complainer, NOT A DOER," Trump wrote.

English Trucking Rule Takes Effect, Federal Probe Begins Of Sanctuary State Migrant CDL Pipeline

Under the Biden-Harris regime, and with backing from rogue sanctuary states, thousands—if not tens of thousands—of non-English-speaking migrants have been granted non-domiciled Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs), a decision now under intense scrutiny following a series of deadly crashes involving 80,000-pound big rigs, including a horrific incident in Austin, Texas, that left five Americans dead.

On Friday, the US Department of Transportation (DoT) released a statement about DoT Sec. Duffy is preparing to launch a nationwide audit into states issuing non-domiciled CDLs, more specifically examining the potential for unqualified individuals obtaining these licenses to operate big rigs on America's highways.

"This action responds directly to a key directive from President Donald J. Trump's Executive Order on Enforcing Commonsense Rules of the Road for America's Truck Drivers and is part of Secretary Duffy's commitment to safety," a statement read from DoT.

DoT Sec. Duffy stated, "The open borders policies of the last administration allowed millions to flood our country – leading to serious allegations that the trucking licensing system is being exploited."

"Today, we are launching a nationwide audit to get to the bottom of this ... and our aduit about protecting the safety of families on the road and upholding the integrity of CDLs held by America's truckers. Every state must follow federal regulations, and ensure only qualified, properly documented drivers are getting behind the wheel of a truck," Sec. Duffy said.

Last Wednesday, the English Language Proficiency (ELP) rule went into effect under a DoT Executive Order, requiring all commercial drivers to demonstrate English proficiency or face out-of-service (OOS) violations.

Trucking news site Freight Waves estimates ELP "could significantly reduce trucking capacity" by upwards of 10%, while Border Report points out that trucking companies are scrambling...

Ahead of the implementation of President Trump's Executive Order 14286, titled "Enforcing Commonsense Rules of the Road for America's Truck Drivers," which went into effect last Wednesday, the advocacy group American Truckers United penned a letter to Sec. Duffy highlighting the urgent need to address national security concerns on America's highways.

Duffy's action against sanctuary states, which handed out non-domiciled CDLs like candy, suggests he may have finally listened to American Truckers United's repeated warnings. It's time for serious action to restore safety and security. The loss of American lives due to reckless, unvetted, non-domiciled CDL holders is unacceptable. It's time to hold rogue sanctuary states accountable.

Trump Blasts CNN 'Hoax, Fake News' Report That US Looking At $30BN Deal With Iran

President Donald Trump has once again blasted CNN and the "hoax" media reports saying his administration was considering a $30 billion deal to assist Iran in developing civilian nuclear facilities, as one option for future deal-making in the wake of the 12-day Israel-Iran war.

NBC also featured reporting that the White House is mulling major economic incentives for the Islamic Republic to halt its uranium enrichment; however Trump's position still seems to be that there's no more enrichment capability and that core nuclear program components were utterly destroyed in the major US bombing raids of a week ago.

Open source satellite imagery showing a damaged nuclear facility.

The reports claimed that Washington could release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets in order to ensure Iran could still have civilian nuclear program, as part of a potential "$30 billion" deal - but importantly with no ability of the Islamic Republic to enrich domestically.

“Who in the Fake News Media is the SleazeBag saying that ‘President Trump wants to give Iran $30 Billion to build non-military Nuclear facilities.’ Never heard of this ridiculous idea,” the president wrote late Friday on social media.

"It’s just another HOAX put out by the Fake News in order to demean. These people are SICK!!!" the Truth Social post added.

The original and 'exclusive' Thursday CNN report claimed that "The Trump administration has discussed possibly helping Iran access as much as $30 billion to build a civilian-energy-producing nuclear program, easing sanctions, and freeing up billions of dollars in restricted Iranian funds – all part of an intensifying attempt to bring Tehran back to the negotiating table, four sources familiar with the matter said."

"Key players from the US and the Middle East have talked with the Iranians behind the scenes even amid the flurry of military strikes in Iran and Israel over the past two weeks, the sources said," the report continued. "Those discussions have continued this week after a ceasefire deal was struck, the sources said."

The report alleged that multiple early-stage proposals have been under discussion, but all based on a key non-negotiable: that Iran must halt all uranium enrichment. However, this is one red line that Tehran has been insistent it won't give in to, as a matter of national sovereignty.

Trump has also been going after Iranian leadership in his Truth Social posts, for example writing the following of Ayatollah Khamenei:

“His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life,” he wrote. “I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!’”

The US President has also said he's willing to strike Iran again if need be, but for now at least the ceasefire is still holding, and does appear to be permanent - as both sides assess to the depth of damage and make efforts to rebuild destroyed buildings and infrastructure.

Who Has The Moral High Ground On Money?

Authored by Jay Davidson via AmericanThinker.com,

Economic theory, and the profound impact it has on our lives, is much simpler than trained economists (apologies to my economist friends) would have you believe.

To understand the politics of economic theory, one need only to consider two opposing ideas.

One group believes that fiscal and monetary policy should entail more federal government intervention in the private economy.  From some incomprehensible and irrational thought process, these believers try to take the moral high ground.  Yet their way leads to loss of individual freedom, to serfdom.

Members of both political parties fall prey to this falsehood, some more than others.  When politicians say they are going to Washington to solve your problems, be forewarned: What happens is more rules and regulations controlling your life and costing the taxpayer more of his hard earned income.  The fact is, we don’t need, or want, our government’s help.  Private industry is far more capable of creating profit through free choice than any bureaucrat.

The illusion of safety is a poor substitute for freedom, self-determination, and individuality.

The other, more enlightened group contends that more economic freedom is necessary for individual and national success.

Further, that individual freedom stems exclusively from our Creator and demands limited government intervention in our lives.  This is the mentality that forged our nation, that created our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.  Individual self-determination is in fact the moral high ground.

In other words, big government versus limited government.

There can be no freedom without economic freedom, and that hinges on the inalienable right to ownership of property.  We are not guilty of greed when we work hard for our money.  They are greedy for stealing our earnings through excessive taxation and crushing free enterprise with regulation.

When one works at earning his money, to whom does that money, that property, belong?  When any government can tax, impose fees, and put us in debt, on a whim, we don’t own our property; the government does.  Granted, we all need to pay our fair share for the structure a government affords us, but when we have to work half the year to pay all our taxes, the price is too high.

Our money goes to supporting a massive government that enslaves us with regulation and unconstitutional laws.  Then that same government puts all of us into debt to fund even more of its unnecessary spending.  Our grandchildren will owe this debt, it has become so enormous.  We have an obligation to stop the spending and reduce the deficit before we leave our progeny in crippling debt.  That is the moral high ground.

This is why I object to imposition of tariffs.  They are a tax on the consumer.  It would be far more effective if we severely limited government regulation and taxation so that private enterprise could once again thrive in a free economy unimpeded by massive federal intervention.  This is the message of the second group, who believe in individual freedom and ownership of property.

Our president did two tremendous things for us.

He started DOGE to eliminate excess and wasteful spending by the Deep State bureaucrats, and he nominated three Supreme Court justices who overthrew the Chevron Doctrine, which severely limits the ability of the administrative (deep) state to impose fines and regulations.

These two actions will do more to limit government and bring it into compliance with the Constitution than anything any other president has done in our lifetime.

We can change the direction of our beloved nation by supporting candidates who will limit government strictly to those rules of law articulated in the Constitution.

When given a choice, always choose individual freedom — never more government control.

The principle must always be the sanctity of individual freedom to choose.

This is the moral high ground.

Israel Pummels South Lebanon In Biggest Airstrikes Since November Hezbollah Ceasefire

In an dangerous sign that hostilities involving Iran and Israel could quickly ratchet again, Israel on Friday is pounding southern Lebanon, where Iran-backed Hezbollah is entrenched, in the biggest escalation there since a November ceasefire was agreed to.

Massive plumes of smoke have been observed over the region, with Lebanon’s official National News Agency reporting that a residential building in Nabatieh was directly struck, resulting in the death of at least one person and the wounding of 21 more.

Local media further says there over twenty strikes in only under 15-minutes, making it the most intense attack in well over six months.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed what it said were airstrikes targeting a "significant underground project" used by Hezbollah. The statement touted that the site was "completely taken out of use" following the strikes,

But questions remain as the IDF said that it targeted a Hezbollah site identified as Beaufort Ridge, which actually lies some five miles from Nabatieh.

"In recent days, the IDF identified attempts by the Hezbollah terror organization to restore the site, and therefore the terror infrastructure in the area was struck," the Israeli military said.

Huge blast images circulating on social media, via X

The IDF further claimed the "presence of this site and the attempts to reestablish it constitute a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon."

This statement suggests the Israel-Hezbollah truce could be on the brink of failure.

This could also be the result of Israeli frustration at President Trump having enforced an Iran ceasefire - given that Israeli leaders were telling the public to expect 'weeks' more of air attacks on the Islamic Republic.

As for current allegations of attacks on Lebanese residential buildings, Israel's military claims "The IDF did not target any civilian building," according to the IDF's Arabic-language spokesman.

"According to the information we have, the building was hit by a rocket projectile that was stored at the site, and was launched and exploded as a result of the airstrike," he said.

"Great Cities Fall To The Sound Of Cheering Crowds..."

Authored by James Howard Kunstler,

Chaos Creeps In On Little Cat's Feet

"Great cities fall to the sound of cheering crowds."

- Ami Kozak on "X"

The Democratic Party put another bullet in its head this week with the election of the charming, affable jihadi communist Zohran Mamdani. Is “communist” too harsh a label? (He styles himself, softly, a “socialist.”) Yet his campaign platform looks like a template from the venerable Soviet Council of Ministers circa 1957: Free Everything: housing, buses and subways, college, child-care, government food stores. . . with a cherry-on-top of replacing police with social workers in high crime areas — because rapists and car-jackers would quit their rowdy ways if only they could talk about their feelings.

If you believe the news reports emanating from Woke Central, Zohran received major support from the folks who predominate the Upper West Side, where he was raised-up by his Columbia prof Dad and film-maker Mom. That is, voted in by the same high-income demographic that flocks to Zabar’s Deli on Sunday mornings for smoked sturgeon and babka — a curious alliance. I guess this solves the old riddle of why Europe’s Jews walked so placidly into Auschwitz.

“Life imitates art,” old Oscar Wilde liked to say, and with so many self-administered bullets in its head now, the Democratic Party looks more and more like The Walking Dead, a necromantic tribute to its erstwhile mascot, “Joe Biden,” the Phantom of the White House. Fortunately, the Latinx bombshell, AOC, America’s answer to Eva Peron, has stepped up to the leadership role, flanked by the foxy Jasmine Crockett, with their mentor, Bernie Sanders close at hand (on a leash, really) barking validation for the Party’s death trip.

It’s a wonder of our time (and its playful zeitgeist) that New Yorkers might choose a mayor even worse than the brain-dead colossus, Bill de Blasio, but there it is, in plain sight for all to behold. The Big Apple and its various services will now go from their currently merely broke-ass condition, to the complete collapse of infrastructure, transit, housing, revenue, business, and public safety, in other words, to true Third World authenticity! Serious people, who run viable businesses, support families, and pay whopping taxes, are in a panic, all a’chatter about moving elsewhere.

That chatter is not idle, especially among the class that owns major real estate, of which New York City has a frightening and increasingly obsolete inventory — hundreds of office skyscrapers running at fifty percent (or less) occupancy, which cannot cover their mortgages, maintenance, or taxes. What will become of them? I’ll tell you: some will be foreclosed-on, sold for dimes on the dollar (and fail again under new ownership,) and quite few will stand empty waiting for acanthus tree seeds to sprout on their empty windowsills.

Or, they will turn into “squats,” like the towers in the abandoned city center of Johannesburg that I saw visiting there ten years ago. Those giant office buildings were not converted into “residential,” you understand; folks were simply camping-out there, even with the electricity and water turned off. This is exactly what happens when you run the prosperous people, whom you hate, out of town, which is what happened in that sad-sack nation.

How many demonstration projects like that are needed to prove that communism with a racist frosting on top is a mug’s game.

Of course, we’re not there yet. Zohran hasn’t been sworn in, though the victory celebration just now looks like it’s fait accompli. You can only imagine the frantic conversation running between the old party poohbahs out in the cold: Chuck Schumer, Hakim, Nadler, Obama, even the loser, Cuomo, plus the non-elected party apparatchiks: Axelrod, Podesta, Carville, Plouffe, Emmanuel. . . . They’re not saying, but I bet many are silently wondering: Is there some way we can just disappear the guy? Make him go away? X him out? Cancel his ass? (Someone, for Godsake, find a couple of girls who will say he groped them in an elevator!)

Or maybe some electoral work-around? Maybe put what remains of the party’s dwindling financial mojo back behind Eric Adams — yes, he’s still Mayor — who supposedly quit the party (after they tried and failed to stuff him in prison) and is running for mayor now as an independent. . . but who will surely welcome whatever support and moolah they can bring to his cause. Adams’s two great virtues as a political figure: he’s not Bill de Blasio and he’s not Zohran Mamdani.

New York might go down the drain anyway. At least for a while. That broken business model for skyscrapers is not going away anytime soon, and neither is the greatly augmented Third World population funneled across the open border into New York City by “Joe Biden’s” shadowy minders. Will New York turn into that fairytale town whose economy subsisted on people simply taking in each other’s laundry?

Well, the city will always have its geographical assets, like, the best goshdarn ocean harbor in the whole east coast. Something will be there. . . some human agglomeration. But what? And over all of that, like the uncanny eyes of Dr. TJ Eckleburg in Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, looming above the ash-heaps of Queens County on the road to West Egg, lately rises the stern visage of Donald J. Trump, New York real estate mogul superbus, and now President of this sore-beset nation, watching events roll out.

DOJ Sues California County Over Non-Citizen Voting Records

Authored by Brad Jones via The Epoch Times,

The Trump administration has sued California’s Orange County Registrar of Voters Robert Page for allegedly withholding information that could reveal noncitizens were registered to vote.

The lawsuit, filed in federal district court, alleges that Orange County undermined voter confidence by “refusing transparency of its voter information in violation of federal voting laws” and  “concealing the unlawful registration of ineligible, noncitizen voters.”

“Voting by noncitizens is a federal crime, and states and counties that refuse to disclose all requested voter information are in violation of well-established federal elections laws” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon of the federal Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division.

“Removal of noncitizens from the state’s voter rolls is critical to ensuring that the state’s voter rolls are accurate and that elections in California are conducted without fraudulent voting. The Department of Justice will hold jurisdictions that refuse to comply with federal voting laws accountable,” she said.

The lawsuit alleges that Page has refused to provide the DOJ with records pertaining to the removal of noncitizens from its voter registration list and has failed to maintain an accurate voter list in violation of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA).

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli posted on X on June 26 that Orange County refused “to hand over records showing noncitizens are registered to vote and received ballots in federal elections.”

Page did not respond directly to a media inquiry, but media liaison Enedina Chhim stated in an email to The Epoch Times that the county does not comment on pending or ongoing litigation.”

The lawsuit stems from a complaint received by the Attorney General’s Office from the family member of a noncitizen in Orange County “indicating that the noncitizen received an unsolicited mail-in ballot” from the OC Registrar of Voters.

On June 2, 2025, the attorney general requested documents from Page from Jan. 1, 2020, “to present” showing the number of voter registration records in Orange County canceled because registrants didn’t meet citizenship requirements to vote, according to allegations in the complaint.

Page responded to the request but redacted information such a California driver’s licenses and identification card numbers, Social Security numbers, California secretary of State-assigned voter identification numbers, language preference, and images of registrants’ signatures, according to the complaint.

The legal complaint stated that Page cited state law as the reason for the redactions, and on June 17 the DOJ responded to him indicating the data redaction prohibits the Attorney General’s Office from making an accurate assessment of the whether the OC Registrar of Voters acted in compliance with HAVA and the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

The Attorney General’s Office holds that such records are not exempt from the NVRA’s public disclosure provision and is seeking declaratory and injunctive relief.

Homan Reveals ICE Rescuing Migrant Children Trafficked To Pedos Under Biden, Lives Apart From Wife Due To Death Threats

President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, revealed that ICE has rescued migrant children sex-trafficked under the Biden administration, while noting he’s been separated from his wife due to death threats tied to enforcing Trump’s immigration policies.

There were 300,000 missing children under the last administration,” Homan told Miranda Devine’s “Pod Force One” podcast. "We rescued victims of sex trafficking [and] two weeks ago, we rescued a 14-year-old that was already pregnant, living with adult men.”

“We rescued some victims of forced labor. We found children working on ranches and chicken farms, not going to school, but enslaved labor in the United States of America,” Trump’s border czar continued.

Some of the children we found [were] perfectly fine with their families. They just didn’t respond to call-ins [because they] didn’t want to face the consequences of immigration court,” he added.

ICE officers previously disclosed to the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General that thousands of migrant children were handed over to non-family sponsors, with HHS releasing over 14,500 in 2023 and 9,600 in 2024 to unrelated individuals or distant relatives, according to the New York Post. Additionally, only 1,000 of 2,400 kids in one November 2023 week went to parents or legal guardians.

“Although these relatives may have been appropriately qualified, [one ICE officer] noted the UACs most at risk for trafficking or forced labor are those released to an unrelated sponsor,” an IG report said.

Homan also told Devine DNA testing showed up to 30% of supposed families were unrelated.

“A lot of parents paid a smuggling organization to bring their kids [over the border]. Some of these children were trafficked. We know HSI [Homeland Security Investigations] had several investigations where a child was rented by the criminal cartel to an adult male or female, crossed the border [and] when you’re done, you send the kid back [and] re-rent them,” Homan said.

Later in the interview, Homan told Devine that living apart from his wife due to death threats he has received.

Homan has revealed that he’s living away from his wife because of death threats he’s receiving.

“I spent a lot of time with my boys growing up, but as I got more and more — climbed the ladder of what I’ve done with ICE director and now back — I don’t see my family very much,” Homan said. “My wife’s living separately from me right now, mainly because I worked for many hours, but mostly because of the death threats against me.

“She’s someplace else. I see her as much as I can, but the death threats against me and my family are outrageous,” he added.

New Texas Law Prevents Land Sales To CCP Members

Authored by Dorothy Li via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

Texas will ban individuals and companies with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from purchasing land in the state under a law set to take effect on Sept. 1.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott speaks with the Jewish Republican Coalition in Las Vegas, Nev., on Sept. 5, 2024. John Fredricks/The Epoch Times

Gov. Greg Abbott announced on June 23 that he signed Senate Bill 17 into law, restricting the foreign ownership of residential property, agricultural land, mineral deposits, and water rights across Texas.

The legislation targets nations designated as national security threats by the Director of National Intelligence. Besides communist China, the current list includes Russia, Iran, and North Korea. It also grants the governor the authority to add more countries to the restricted list.

With the new law, Texas is joining a growing number of states that regulate foreign ownership of their land. From January 2023 to July 2024, a total of 22 states have enacted similar laws limiting or banning foreign ownership of land, according to a report by the Congressional Research Service released in August 2024.

State Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, who reintroduced SB 17 earlier in 2024, hailed the Texas measures as “the strongest national security bill that this nation has ever seen from any state.”

I believe that, from the very bottom of my heart, we are protecting our land and our minerals,” the Republican senator said at a press conference on May 31 following the bill’s passage in the Texas Legislature.

“All of these are our resources that should never fall into the hands of adversarial nations.”

In November 2022, Kolkhorst first introduced the bill, which was killed in the state’s lower chamber at the time.

Under the soon-to-be-enacted law, people from the designated nations living in the United States legally are allowed to purchase residential property but only if those properties serve as their primary residences.

It restricts members of “the ruling political party or any subdivision of the ruling political party” in these nations from purchasing the state’s property. That means CCP members, for example, would not be able to buy land in Texas.

Individuals who act “as an agent or on behalf of a designated country” are also subject to the land purchase ban.

The law prohibits them from acquiring land and limits property leases to less than a year at a time.

The bill passed in the state Senate by a vote of 25–6 on May 30, a day after receiving approval from the House with an 85–57 vote.

Among the four targeted nations—which collectively hold less than 1 percent of total foreign-held agricultural land—investors from China own the most U.S. forest land and farmland at 277,336 acres, according to the Department of Agriculture’s most recent report.

Texas alone has 123,708 of those acres, making it the state with the largest Chinese holdings. It was followed by North Carolina with 44,263 acres and Missouri with 42,905 acres.

Nationwide, Iranian and Russian investors reported owning 3,030 acres and 11 acres, respectively, while there was no reported acreage held by North Koreans, according to the report released in December 2023.

State Rep. Cole Hefner, a Republican who carried SB 17 in the House, said that the new law will “prevent hostile foreign nations from buying up Texas land and exposing Texas to a significant and growing threat.”

We cannot, we will not, allow oppressive regimes who actively seek to do us harm to seize control and dictate their terms over our economy, our supply chains, our daily lives, our critical infrastructure, or our food supply,” Hefner said at the May 31 press conference.

State Sen. Bryan Hughes told reporters that the bill was not about foreign people but was part of Texas’s efforts to stand up against threats from hostile foreign adversaries.

He pointed to the threats posed by transnational repression, saying that agents from foreign adversaries operate in Texas, going after dissidents and Americans who speak out against them.

“We love all people,” Hughes said. “We do not support hostile foreign governments that are very open about their designs on us, and we will not let them mess with Texas.

The RFK Effect

Authored by Clayton Baker, MD, via The Brownstone Institute,

Over the last couple of weeks, a remarkable sequence of events involving two US Senators has unfolded that demonstrates the profound and positive influence that HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is exerting on Washington, DC, which extends far beyond the halls of the CDC, FDA, and NIH.

On June 12, 2025, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) announced a dramatic course correction.

Four months after aggressively attacking Kennedy at his Senate confirmation hearings (and subsequently voting against him), Sanders has co-sponsored a bill named the “End Prescription Drug Ads Now Act” with Senator Angus King (I-ME), to outlaw direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising in the United States.

On his website, Sanders states that “the bill would also answer Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s repeated calls to end prescription drug advertising, a position he promoted while campaigning for President Trump in 2024.”

As an increasing number of Americans have learned – and as Sanders notes – Pharma advertising is currently permitted in only two countries on Earth: the United States and New Zealand. This allows the pharmaceutical industry to effectively buy off the entire US mainstream media, silencing media criticism of its practices and products while bombarding the public with a constant stream of pro-Pharma propaganda and advertisements.

Sanders’ website does not hold back in its valid criticism of Pharma’s stranglehold on the media, stating:

Last year, the 10 largest drug companies made more than $100 billion in profits while the pharmaceutical industry spent over $5 billion on television ads. Prescription drug commercials now account for more than 30% of commercial time on major networks’ evening news programs. In the first three months of this year, Big Pharma spent more than $725 million advertising just 10 drugs.

Now, let us rewind to late January, back to the days of now-HHS Secretary Kennedy’s confirmation hearings. During the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) hearings, ranking committee member Sanders launched into a harsh attack on now-Secretary Kennedy that veered into the comical. At one point, Sanders posted photos of some baby onesies that Children’s Health Defense, Kennedy’s former nonprofit organization, had been selling online.

Barking furiously in his trademark Brooklyn accent (and growing increasingly unhinged as he went along), Sanders repeatedly demanded of Kennedy,

Are you supportive of these onesies?”

Later, Kennedy called out Sanders for the Senator’s Big Pharma campaign receipts, stating, “Bernie, you were the single largest acceptor of pharmaceutical dollars.”

And yet, a mere four months pass, and voila, Bernie Sanders sponsors the End Prescription Drugs Now Act, and name-checks Kennedy and Trump in his supporting arguments for the bill.

Has Senator Sanders had a 180-degree change of heart? Is Bernie suddenly supportive of those onesies?

Well, not so fast.

One day after the bill was announced, on June 13, Sanders wrote a letter to HELP Committee Chair Bill Cassidy (R-LA). In the letter, he states:

As you know, last week, in a dangerous and unprecedented decision that will have a profoundly negative impact on the lives of the American people, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. fired all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)…

I am requesting that we immediately initiate a bi-partisan investigation into these firings and conduct serious oversight into the actions Secretary Kennedy has taken to mislead the American people about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and erode public health.

Of course, Sanders makes no mention whatsoever of the extensively documented conflicts of interest that numerous prior members of the ACIP committee possess. Many received significant funding from relevant pharmaceutical companies. Others held patents on the products voted upon by the committee. Videos of past proceedings of ACIP meetings have been posted online, and they reveal the ACIP committee to be an embarrassing rubber stamp/kangaroo court composed of feckless functionaries.

Sanders’ pen pal from across the aisle, Bill Cassidy, has also been a staunch opponent of Kennedy’s efforts at reform. This may be explained by the fact that once Cassidy assumed the role of chairman of the HELP committee in 2023, he rapidly received a windfall of Pharma contributions, as evidenced by the April 2023 STAT news article entitled, “Pharma executives shower Bill Cassidy with Campaign Cash.” According to Open Secrets, Cassidy received over $290,000 from pharmaceutical Political Action Committees in 2023-4.

While Cassidy was harshly critical of Kennedy during the Senate confirmation, and while he insisted on Kennedy having monthly meetings with him once confirmed, Cassidy ultimately voted in favor of Kennedy to lead HHS. However, in other vital respects, Cassidy has continued to obstruct Kennedy’s work.

Cassidy teamed with another Republican Senator on the HELP committee, Susan Collins of Maine, to effectively block Trump and Kennedy’s nominee for CDC Director, former Congressman David Weldon, from even coming before the committee. (Weldon has deep knowledge of the problems surrounding the vaccine approval process.) Ultimately, Weldon’s nomination was withdrawn on March 13.

Thanks to Cassidy, Trump’s replacement nominee to lead CDC, Susan Monarez, still awaits confirmation hearings, which according to the HELP website, are scheduled for June 25, 2025, more than 3 months after Cassidy forced the Weldon nomination to be pulled, and ironically on the same day as the upcoming and much-anticipated ACIP meetings. Multiple other key HHS positions remain unfilled to date due to similar Senate delays in the confirmation process.

Suddenly – literally as this essay is going to press – on June 23, 2025, STAT News has reported that Cassidy has called for a delay of the ACIP meeting, claiming that “advisers picked by RFK lack experience, and may be biased against some shots.”

You literally cannot make this nonsense up. Bernie and Bill, these Keystone Cop Senators, their hair flagrantly afire, are riding off furiously in all directions, at the bidding of their Big Pharma owners, to do whatever they can to impede the will of the electorate.

The correct and absolutely necessary response, of course, is for Secretary Kennedy and his eminently qualified and morally unhindered (and yes, they are both) panel to proceed as scheduled, and render an honest and reasonable appraisal for the first time in the modern history of ACIP.

Cassidy, meanwhile, had better watch himself. He faces a reelection minefield in 2026, including a wide open primary from two experienced challengers, and reform of the state primary system that may work to his disadvantage. Cassidy’s decision to vote in favor of President Trump’s impeachment in February 2021 has already soured him with MAGA voters. Cassidy’s obstructionism toward Kennedy has alienated even more Louisianans.

As Cassidy’s reelection problems suggest, a Venn diagram of President Trump and Secretary Kennedy’s supporters would likely show far more overlap than most would have guessed a year ago.

Kennedy has only been HHS Secretary since February 13, 2025 – a little over 4 months. He has received more scrutiny in that brief period than perhaps all other HHS Secretaries combined since the office was created in 1980.

Based on Bernie Sanders and Bill Cassidy’s recent behaviors, Secretary Kennedy is having effects that reverberate well beyond the halls of the CDC, FDA, and NIH. His opponents don’t quite know what to do with themselves. It’s no longer possible to just do Big Pharma’s bidding in secret. Everyone’s watching now. And they’re not just watching Kennedy, but also the people trying to undermine and destroy him. And they consider attacks on Kennedy to be attacks on the President as well.

Could it be the progress that Trump and Kennedy’s NIH Director, Jay Bhattacharya, have made against deadly Gain-of-Function research, which we all now know to have been the source of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, that is driving this consensus? After all, what sane person wants our Deep State continuing to create superbugs at taxpayer expense?

Could it be the measured, step-by-step progress Kennedy has led toward reform of the US’s utterly corrupt vaccine approval and recommendation process – despite the opposition of Sanders, Cassidy, and the like? What sane person thinks the increase from 7 recommended childhood vaccines in the 1980s to 23 today promotes health, especially when American children today are dramatically less healthy? (In fact, much of the criticism Kennedy has faced from ordinary Americans is that this process of vaccine reform is happening too slowly.)

These trends in public opinion should surprise nobody. Only the most wicked and diabolical of people would impose an endless stream of toxic injections, medications, fake foods, ubiquitous pesticides, geoengineered weather, and the patenting, corporatization, and denaturing of life itself onto their fellow humans and the entire planet, while propagandistically denouncing a healthy, natural lifestyle for children and future generations.

Ordinary citizens – be they MAGA, MAHA, reformed “Bernie Bros,” or common sense Cajuns – learned during the Covid years that these threats to their families and futures are not imaginary boogie men. They are the modus operandi of the real and destructive people and organizations that Secretary Kennedy – and by extension, President Trump – have taken on, on behalf of we the people.

While not nearly complete and very much a work in progress, the efforts and successes of the Kennedy-Trump alliance are real and significant. The recent confusion, mixed messages, and bloviations of Bernie and Bill are evidence that we are moving in the right direction. I’m not holding my breath, but may they and everyone see the light and join on board.

In the meantime, may Secretary Kennedy, President Trump, and their team at HHS stay the course.

Trump's Disbanding Of A Secret "Deep State" Working Group Raises Hopes Of Peace With Russia

Authored by Andrew Korybko via Substack,

Its inter-agency members sought to sabotage the Russian-US rapprochement...

Reuters reported in mid-June that the Trump Administration had recently disbanded a secret inter-agency working group overseen by now-dismissed National Security Council members tasked with formulating strategies for coercing Russia into concessions to Ukraine.

According to their three unnamed US official sources, Trump’s hitherto refusal to escalate American involvement in the conflict led to this initiative losing steam, though he could still potentially reverse gears in the future.

At any rate, what’s most significant about Reuters’ report is that it confirms that a secret group of officials from the US’ permanent military, intelligence, and diplomatic bureaucracies (“deep state”) was set up to manipulate Trump into pressuring Russia, which could have worsened tensions had it succeeded. Just as significantly, however, was its failure to do so thus far. Nevertheless, the plans that they devised could still be implemented by subversive deep state elements and therein lies the problem.

According to Reuters, “Ideas ranged from tailored economic deals designed to peel some countries out of Russia's geopolitical orbit to covert special operations efforts”, the first scenario of which included a proposal to “incentivize” Kazakhstan into cracking down on Russia’s evasion of Western sanctions. That country has been drifting Westward for some time already, which could pose challenges for Russia and China as explained here in summer 2023, but it doesn’t appear that anything came from that scheme.

The second scenario, however, might have speculatively been connected to Ukraine’s strategic drone strikes against Russia in early June. No one can say for certain whether or not Trump knew about this in advance, but Reuters’ revelation about the existence of this previously unreported “deep state” working group lends credence to those of his supporters who claimed that he didn’t. After all, it’s entirely possible that this was orchestrated by them without his knowledge, which he might have told Putin.

There’s also the possibility that these “covert special operations efforts” included the two false flag plots in the Baltic Sea that Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service recently warned about.

Although they claimed that these are joint British-Ukrainian efforts, it can’t be ruled out that the aforementioned subversive “deep state” elements within that working group could have either played a role in their planning and/or might have had a detailed plan ready for pressuring Trump into escalating against Russia afterwards.

This secret “deep state” inter-agency working group’s disbandment therefore raises hopes of peace with Russia and might partially account for the Trump Administration’s latest pragmatism towards it.

The Secretary of Defense recently announced that aid for Ukraine will be slashed in the next budget while the Secretary of the Treasury warned against new anti-Russian sanctions. Trump then opposed more such sanctions at the G7, blocked efforts to lower the Russian oil price cap, and stood up Zelensky.

While it’s premature to celebrate the preceding moves since Trump could always flip-flop on his own or be manipulated into escalating, they’re nevertheless positive developments for peace.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll stay the course, but what’s important is that he’s back to his pragmatic approach that was briefly disrupted by a period of angry posts about Putin.

The best-case scenario is that he proudly defies the “deep state” by finally coercing Ukraine into Russia’s demanded concessions for peace.
